Using a food supplement
such as PLUSEPA® you are safe in the knowledge that
your child is consuming 90% of the supporting Omega-3
fatty acid EPA.
What you should know:
When your child eats
oily fish you are never sure whether he/she is
consuming a surplus of EPA or a surplus of DHA
(fish contains both EPA and DHA in unpredictable
proportions).
No matter how, food
supplements based on algae (vegetarian Omega-3)
mainly supply DHA, and virtually no EPA. Algae
preparations are, therefore, not a good choice
when it comes to boosting the concentration of
primary school age children.
In order to consume
the recommended 500 mg EPA your child would have
to eat up to 250 g of salmon or ½ kg of
tuna each day, to mention but a few
examples. With fish it is obviously important
to vary the type of fish you eat. Variation prevents
your child from consuming too many toxic substances,
as nowadays fish live in relatively polluted waters.
